Established in 1993 as a division of the Egyptian Society of Physicians and reconstituted as an independent society in 1996, ESCTS has since been at the forefront of advancing cardiothoracic surgery across the country.

The head office was in Dar Al Hekma. Then it was announced to be a separate society in 5/10/1996 carrying the official No. 346
